Webster's dictionary defines salvation as: The act of saving; preservation from destruction.

The Bible says in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

In Romans 6:23 we find "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

In Ephesians 2:8-9 it says "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

In 1 Timothy 1:15 "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."

The Bible teaches that as sinners we need a Saviour.  If we don't get saved, we will go to Hell.  The Bible also teaches that Hell was not made for man but for Satan.  Matthew 25:41 "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the Devil and his angels:"  So man has a choice whether he goes to Hell or not.  God's choice is that you don't.  In 2 Peter 3:9 the Bible says "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."

The Bible says in Luke 5:32 "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance"
For the Jew in Acts 5:31 "Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins."  And for the Gentile in Acts 11:18 "When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life."

The Bible says in Romans 10:10-13 "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

These verses teach that Salvation is something that begins in the heart of man, but that the act of Salvation is something that we ask the Lord to do with our mouth.  It also teaches that anyone (Whosoever) can be saved.

These verses do not teach that you need to do anything to get saved other than repent of your sin, believe with the heart, confess with the mouth and call upon the name of the Lord. In other words, Trust Him.

The Gospel found in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 says "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to scriptures:"

Biblical Salvation? It's Easy...

1. You need to realize you are a sinner and repent of your sins.
Rom. 3:23 "...for all have sinned..."

2. You need to realize your sin requires a payment.
Rom. 6:23 "...for the wages of sin is death;"
Heb. 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement."

3. You need to realize that you can't pay that debt yourself !
Isa. 64:6 says "...and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;"

4. You need to realize that you need a Saviour, and accept THE SAVIOUR, the Lord Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross of Calvary.
He shed His blood for YOU...
He died for YOUR sins...
1 Peter 1:18-19 "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"
Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."

5. Do it Today, don't wait!   In 2 Corinthians 6:2 we find "...behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."

6. Sincerely pray this prayer: "Lord Jesus, be merciful to me a sinner.  I do now repent of my sins, I trust the Lord Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross for me, come into my heart and save me."  If you prayed that and meant that... God saved you, and you can know it.
In 1 John 5:13 the Bible says "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the son of God."
